The Uptown Group (TUG) is seeking volunteers to serve on the Green Breeze Fashion Event Committee (The Green Committee). The Green Committee will be responsible for planning a local fashion show featuring eco-friendly design, which will take place in the evening on July 24, 2010. This event will be part of Green Breeze, an annual ecologically friendly event at The Community House.
This is the first year TUG will participate in the event, and it intends to donate all proceeds urban agriculture efforts in and around Birmingham, Royal Oak and Detroit.
All volunteers are welcome, and the following skill sets/needs are particularly pressing:
1. Marketing Chair: this individual will be responsible for coordinating the design and distribution of advertising materials, communicating with any media outlets, and working cooperatively with TUG’s web designer. This individual should make best efforts to use recycled print materials.
2. Sponsorship Chair: this individual will be responsible for coordinating, tracking, and corresponding with potential and confirmed sponsors as well as working with the Marketing and Party Chairs to ensure that sponsors receive appropriate recognition at the Fashion Event;
3. Sales Chair: this individual will be responsible for coordinating the distribution and collection of tickets and proceeds;
4. Party Chair: this individual will be responsible for coordinating and communicating with the landlord who agrees to host the event, as well as the DJ (if any), bartenders (if any), and any related hospitality vendors. This individual should make best efforts to arrange for a natural or eco friendly venue as well as organic/eco friendly food/drinks;
5. Charity Liaison: this individual will be responsible for communicating with the designated charitable recipient and ensuring that TUG has satisfied any and all documentation and legal requirements for that purpose;
6. Backstage Liaison: this individual will be responsible for communicating and coordinating with all fashion-show-related professionals, including hair and makeup artists and participating models. This individual will also manage fashion show logistics, including but not limited to: creating scripts, assigning models, arranging for communications during the event, music selection, and during show sponsor recognition;
7. Designer Liaison: this individual will be responsible for coordinating and communicating with any participating designers or store-owners, including garnering initial participation and ensuring that their needs are met throughout the planning process and event, including appropriate advertising in exchange for participating (will require coordination with Backstage Liaison, Marketing Chair, and Sponsorship Chair).
